The North Carolina Nurses Association is the leading professional association for registered nurses in North Carolina and operates as a nonprofit organization based in Raleigh. It supports nurses at all stages of their careers through continuing education, professional networking, and legislative advocacy. The organization aims to shape the future of nursing to improve healthcare for everyone. Founded in 1902, NCNA has historically served as the voice for North Carolina’s registered nurses and played a role in establishing the Nursing Practice Act, making the state a pioneer in nurse regulation. It remains the only nursing association in the state that represents all registered nurses and has earned national recognition for its impact on the profession and on quality care. In September 2024, the association hosted its 117th Annual Convention in Concord, North Carolina, drawing more than 500 nurses from across the state to recognize achievements and discuss Nursing Forward initiatives.
