North Star Supply Co. is a small, family-owned wholesale distributor based in Buffalo, Western New York. It was founded in 1924 by Frank N. Sausen and initially marketed roofing, siding products, gutters, and downspouts. After World War II, the company expanded into heating and sheet-metal supplies as systems evolved, with air conditioning added in the late 1950s. In 1973 it extended its reach to Rochester, NY through the acquisition of Heating Products Co., and by 1975 the firm focused its operations on HVAC. In the mid-1990s it broadened its product lines to include hearth offerings as a Napoleon fireplace distributor. It moved to a new office and warehouse on Thielman Drive in 2001 to accommodate growth, and today Francis J. Sausen III (Trey) serves as President, leading the business from its Buffalo base.
