North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust delivers ambulance and pre-hospital care across the North West region of England. It was formed on 1 July 2006 through the merger of Cumbria, Lancashire, Mersey Regional and Greater Manchester Ambulance Services, and it is based in Manchester. The service covers more than 5,400 square miles and serves a population of more than seven million, supported by a fleet of around 1,000 emergency and non-emergency vehicles and a workforce numbering in the thousands. It collaborates with NHS partners to develop new models of emergency and urgent care and seeks to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions by routing patients to appropriate alternative care pathways. In June 2026, the Trust selected Doc-Works Scribe Clinical Audit Management to support its clinical audit and quality improvement activities.
