Northeastern Illinois University is a higher education institution in Chicago, Illinois, located on a 67-acre campus at 5500 North Street Louis Avenue. Founded in 1867, the university has a history of educational innovation and employs between 1,001 and 5,000 people. The university offers more than 40 undergraduate degree and certificate programs and more than 50 graduate degree, certificate, licensure and endorsement programs. It maintains additional locations, including the Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies, El Centro, and the Center for College Access and Success, and is a founding member of the University Center of Lake County consortium campus.
