The NSIC is a NCAA Division II athletic conference consisting of 16 member institutions across Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. It sponsors 18 sports and uses high-level competition to help student-athletes excel in the classroom and in their communities, fostering leadership and positive engagement. Based in Burnsville, Minnesota, the conference has grown over more than two decades into a union of Upper Midwest colleges and universities. It maintains a relatively small staff that coordinates schedules, championships, and related activities for member schools. In June 2026, the NSIC announced the appointment of Andrea Palmen as Assistant Commissioner for Operations.
