About thirty years ago, the Presidents and CEOs of our most respected research facilities recognized that public confidence in the integrity of research was essential to the future of medical discovery in our region. NWABR was born out of that commitment and stands today as the Northwest’s leading voice for understanding biomedical research and its ethical conduct.

Through our many popular education outreach programs and resources, we help thousands of students and members of the general public appreciate science and its role in their lives. We empower citizens to make informed choices on issues related to biomedical research, facilitate dialogue about the principles, ethics and roles of scientific research, and build community across scientific and educational institutions.

As a non-profit whose diverse membership spans academia, industry, non-profit research institutes, health care and voluntary health organizations, NWABR is a connecting bridge that educates our citizens about the people, the process and the promise of research.
