Northwest Maritime is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Port Townsend, Washington, focused on engaging people of all generations in both traditional and contemporary maritime life. It operates as a campus-like space that offers hands-on maritime experiences to educate, inspire exploration, and celebrate maritime culture, grounded in the belief that the sea is a powerful teacher. Its activities serve the local community and the broader maritime industry, linking learning with practical maritime life. In 2023 the organization formed a partnership with Dovetail Workwear to foster community, promote inclusion in maritime trades, and support empowerment for women and BIPOC individuals. It has also collaborated with educational groups such as Big Picture Learning and B-Unbound to help students identify maritime interests and pathways and connect with maritime professionals in the region.
