Based in Washington, DC, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) is a policy-focused organization serving the commercial nuclear industry. It functions as a leading forum for policy and technical guidance across the sector. Its membership spans utilities, reactor vendors, technology developers, stakeholders from the nuclear supply chain, clean energy buyers, national laboratories, labor unions, and universities, and NEI aims to shape policies and regulations that support clean nuclear energy in the United States and worldwide. As a public policy and industry association, NEI organizes and participates in events addressing nuclear energy policy, regulation, and financing, with recurring forums in Washington and New York City. In 2023 it launched the Advanced Nuclear Hub, and in May 2026 it formed a partnership with Nuclear Matters to recognize state leaders advancing nuclear energy.
