The Nuclear Threat Initiative is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization focused on reducing threats from nuclear, biological, and emerging technologies. Based in Washington, D.C., it operates within the international affairs arena. Its work centers on informing policy and mitigating the risks posed by these threats to human security. In 2026, NTI expanded its leadership by adding three new directors: John Richardson, Sean O'Keefe, and Todd Young. That year also saw the launch of an intergenerational initiative with The Elders to address biological threats amid rapid advances in AI and biotechnology, alongside participation in the Munich Security Conference to discuss nuclear risk reduction.
