The Oakland Strokes Rowing Club, based in Oakland, California, serves middle and high school students from the San Francisco Bay Area and counts more than 200 members. Guided by nationally recognized coaches, the program develops novice rowers toward varsity competition and seeks junior national titles and junior world championships. The club also emphasizes character and commitment, with many alumni advancing to top universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Cal, USC, UCLA, and Penn.
Oakland Strokes competes regionally, nationally, and in world-class events, and has been invited to prestigious regattas such as the Henley Royal Regatta and the Head of the Charles. In June 2025, Girls Inc. announced a collaboration with Oakland Strokes to expand middle school offerings through partnership with First Tee Oakland and Oakland Strokes Rowing Club.
