O’Donnell + Tuomey was founded in Dublin in 1988 by Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey. We are a studio-based architectural design practice, headquartered in an old schoolhouse in central Dublin, with studios in Cork and London.

The practice consists of a core group of committed and talented people who work as a team with an aim of providing excellence in all areas of architecture from design to contract management. Committed to the craft and culture of architecture, we have been involved with urban design, cultural, social and educational projects at home and abroad. We have completed schools and colleges, theatres and cinemas, community centres and social housing, art galleries and libraries, city masterplans and university campuses in Ireland, the UK and on the European mainland. The practice has an international reputation for its engagement with complex urban situations and sensitive landscapes, producing consistently high quality, award-winning contemporary architecture of various scales and specialisations.

The practice has a matrix organisational structure where there is little bureaucracy and decisions are made quickly. Our culture and ethos is rooted in innovation, creativity, collaboration, respect, autonomy, and learning & development.
