OF COURSE is a Shanghai-based education platform focused on creative coding, founded in 2014 as the city’s first maker space. It began with hands-on classes in 3D printing, laser cutting, wearable electronics, and digital prototyping, and expanded after a municipal grant in 2015 to host visiting instructors from notable design programs in the United States and Europe. In 2016 the organization opened a small studio of creative technologists working on local commercial projects for brands such as Sony, Alibaba, and WildAid. The company has extended its offerings online and operates a learning platform to reach students beyond Shanghai. In 2021 it partnered with BiliBili to develop courses for teenagers and young adults exploring creative coding, and nearly 30 of these courses are now available on the BiliBili platform; its WeChat and BiliBili communities total over 30,000 followers, with new students joining daily from STEAM-focused schools and arts colleges across China.
