Based in Columbus, Ohio, the Ohio History Connection functions as a statewide steward of the state's heritage, coordinating a network of museums, historic sites, and related programs. It administers more than 50 sites and museums, maintains the State Archives, and operates the state’s history museums at the Ohio History Center and Ohio Village. The organization also supports education and local history efforts by providing teaching resources for fourth-grade students and by assisting local historical societies through the Local History Alliance. It oversees several ongoing initiatives, including the History Fund to fund local history projects and a statewide program of more than 1,400 historical markers that highlight Ohio’s places and stories. In 2026, the organization broke ground on the Poindexter Village African American Museum in Columbus, signaling expansion of its facilities and programs.
