Okanagan Specialty Fruits is a mid-sized biotechnology company based in Summerland, British Columbia, founded in 1996. It develops tree fruit cultivars with novel attributes intended to benefit growers and consumers, seeking to bring biotech-driven innovations to the tree fruit industry. The company’s flagship Arctic apples exemplify its approach of reducing browning by regulating polyphenol oxidase activity, a capability for which OSF holds a worldwide license.

OSF serves growers, processors, wholesalers, retailers, foodservice, and consumers, aiming to improve quality and productivity and to market its products successfully. Led by Neal Carter, the company collaborates with leading tree fruit research institutions, and in late 2020 expanded its Arctic offerings to include new varieties and Arctic apple slices.
