OnPoint NYC is a nonprofit organization based in New York City dedicated to harm reduction and health services for marginalized people who use drugs or engage in sex work. It works to reduce the harms caused by stigma, as well as policies and practices that affect its communities and the services they rely on. It has been recognized for innovative programs in drug user health, including opening the first two overdose prevention centers in the United States in November 2021, and, in March 2022, becoming the largest harm reduction service provider in the country. It collaborates with elected officials, community stakeholders, and government bodies locally and across the United States to address the harms associated with the war on drugs and the overdose epidemic. In December 2023, OnPoint NYC released a baseline report detailing findings from year one of operating its overdose prevention centers. Through its nonprofit work, the organization serves a public health mission focused on safety, health, and well-being for people who use drugs and sex workers.
