Niche Expertise OPCON specializes in optical design and engineering with a history of mass-produced optics, including zoom lenses and aspherical surfaces, indicating strong capabilities for high-volume precision components and technology suppliers.

Aerospace and Defense Lean Past work includes NASA Skylab, US Navy zoom lenses, and space/industrial optics, suggesting alignment with government, defense, and high-reliability markets that value advanced optical design and custom solutions.

Lean Mobile Growth Small team size (2-10 employees) combined with a long-standing brand could benefit from strategic partnerships or project-based collaborations with larger optical, imaging, or consumer electronics firms seeking specialized design support.

Proprietary Tooling Own proprietary software tailored to optical design for zoom lenses and aspherical surfaces presents a differentiator that can be offered as a consulting advantage or licensed for collaboration with OEMs.

Revenue Opportunity Current revenue under ten million places OPCON as an attractive target for scale-up deals, engineering service contracts, or joint development programs with bigger players in industrial imaging, medical optics, or surveillance sectors.
