Open Earth Foundation is a nonprofit based in Los Angeles, California, operating in the environmental services sector. It develops and deploys openly accessible digital tools to support climate action and planetary resilience, aiming to combine technology, science, and collective intelligence. Its flagship CityCatalyst platform helps cities, regions, and consultants manage the climate planning process—from compiling greenhouse gas inventories and assessing risks to identifying high-impact actions, implementation pathways, and funding opportunities. Its team operates on a global, remote basis, reflecting a collaborative approach beyond its mission. In 2023 Open Earth announced developments including the first iteration of digital carbon pricing tools and a Chainlink carbon pricing oracle created with UC Berkeley to deliver the true social price of carbon to blockchain systems. Open Earth Foundation works at the intersection of technology and climate science to equip decision-makers across cities and regions with tools that support planning and collaborative action.
