Opendesk designs and provides workplace furniture through a global network of local makers. Instead of shipping finished, bulky pieces, the company distributes digital design files so independent craftspeople can manufacture locally, enabling quicker, more affordable, and potentially more sustainable office outfitting. The model relies on on-demand manufacturing and aims to minimize the drawbacks of traditional mass production. This setup connects designers, makers, and customers in a locally embedded and ethically oriented supply chain. Based in London, England, Opendesk operates in the furniture and home furnishings manufacturing sector and targets organizations seeking flexible, locally produced office furniture. In 2025, Opendesk announced a partnership with Blast Studio to collaborate on projects, including boards made from coffee cup waste.
