OpenStack is an open-source cloud platform designed to create both private and public clouds, and is hosted by the OpenInfra Foundation. Based in the United States, the project employs between 51 and 200 people. It has a global footprint with more than 300 OpenStack-powered public cloud data centers and thousands of private clouds that span over 40 million physical cores. Since its launch in 2010, OpenStack has become one of the most active open-source projects. The software provides APIs to orchestrate bare-metal, virtual machines, and container resources on a single network, and the code is released under the Apache 2.0 license to support open collaboration. OpenStack serves thousands of users worldwide across industries such as financial services, telecom, retail, manufacturing, internet, and ecommerce.
