Operation Paws for Homes is a nonprofit rescue organization that saves dogs from high-kill shelters, primarily rural facilities in North and South Carolina. With no central facility, it relies on foster families to care for each dog and to learn their needs before adoption. The organization also partners with shelters in Virginia and Maryland and places dogs with families across Virginia, Washington, DC, Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and neighboring states. Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, OPH relies entirely on donor contributions and adoption fees, with no government funding. It is based in Alexandria, Virginia, and conducts its work to connect adopters with dogs via its website, ophrescue.org.
