Oregon Children's Theatre is a nonprofit performing arts company based in Portland, Oregon, and the flagship organization for young audiences in Oregon and SW Washington. It concentrates on creating theater experiences that educate, empower, and entertain, using storytelling to inform and inspire while expanding access to the arts. Founded in 1988, OCTC stages productions known for professional polish and engaging staging, often serving as many children’s first exposure to professional theater. Each season, the organization reaches more than 120,000 children and families through five mainstage productions for families, designated school performances with scholarships for underfunded classrooms, and year-round acting classes for ages 3 to 18. It operates a Young Professionals Company for ages 14 to 19 and provides educator support to help integrate theater into classroom teaching and public speaking. Since 2006, OCTC has partnered with Kaiser Permanente on an Educational Theatre Program that delivers performances, workshops, and residencies in schools and communities to encourage healthy choices, resilience, and mindfulness.
