Oregon Energy Fund is a small statewide nonprofit based in Portland, Oregon, operating in the civic and social sector. It provides energy bill assistance to Oregon families experiencing financial crisis to support household stability. Since its founding in 1989, the organization has helped more than 300,000 residents pay their utility bills during emergencies such as medical crises or layoffs. Its services target households facing energy insecurity when sudden expenses or income loss threaten their ability to keep essential services on, including heat and electricity. By assisting with utility costs, the fund helps families avoid making harsh tradeoffs between basics like housing, food, or medicine. In 2020 the organization partnered with KairosPDX to advance its initiatives.
