The company announced a $58 million Series A funding at the end of 2016, with strategic investors including 21st Century Fox, Shenzhen O-film Tech Co., Ltd., and Vanfund Urban Investment & Development Co. Ltd. The Series A is the largest ever in wearables, augmented and virtual reality.

ODG is led by its CEO Ralph Osterhout who has been in the business of building smart devices for over 40 years. The company is headquartered in San Francisco.
