OTV is a nonprofit streaming platform and media incubator focused on intersectional storytelling, placing artists and their visions at the center of its work. It aims to transform how the film, television, and entertainment industries support independent creators and communities marginalized by race, gender, sexuality, class, disability, or nationality. Founded in 2015 as a Northwestern University research project, the organization is based in Chicago and operates as a small nonprofit with a streaming hub that hosts hundreds of intersectional pilots, series, short films, and video art. OTV runs programs such as an annual fellowship, a workshop series for learning, and a film competition that has gained international recognition to nurture talent and community. By combining artist development with holistic community building, it aims to identify and support the next generation of storytellers from marginalized communities.
