The P-STAT software offers TURF Analysis (total unduplicated reach & Frequency), survey analysis, statistical analysis, data & file management, report-writing capabilities, nested macros and a powerful programming language. A full suite of functions is available for processing character fields which can be from 1 to 50,000 characters in length. P-STAT is supported under Windows, Unix & Linux.
	
What does P-STAT stand for and what is its history?  

 P = Princeton University, STAT = statistics (note, pstat and p-stat have been used interchangeably for this software program from the get-go.)

The P-STAT® system was first used to analyze psychopharmacological data in the early 1960's.  This data, collected from a variety of sources, required extensive cleaning and file manipulation. The result was a program that did far more than statistical analysis. The first User's Manual was published in 1964.  The original authors, Roald and Shirrell Buhler were part of the Princeton University Computer Center Staff  (Road was Director for many years in the 1960's and transitioned to Technical Staff, Shirrell helped run the Clinic) before leaving in 1979 to form P-STAT, Inc.  Portability was another design strength, in the 1990's using a proprietary preprocessor P-STAT ran on 3 dozen + PCs, minis & mainframes from a single master source file.
