Pace/MacGill Gallery was founded in 1983 by Peter MacGill, in collaboration with partners Arne Glimcher of The Pace Gallery and Richard Solomon of Pace Prints and Pace African & Oceanic Art. Since its inception, the gallery has established itself as one of the premier venues dealing in modern and contemporary photography, presenting over 350 exhibitions and publishing numerous exhibition catalogues.

Pace/MacGill Gallery strives to disseminate the work of its artists to museums, private collectors, and corporate collections around the world. The gallery has had the privilege of representing such masters of photography as Harry Callahan, Robert Frank, Irving Penn, John Szarkowksi, Richard Avedon, William Christenberry, Emmet Gowin, Josef Koudelka, Richard Misrach, Nicholas Nixon, David Goldblatt, Jim Goldberg, Judith Joy Ross, Fazal Sheikh, Frederick Sommer, JoAnn Verburg, and Henry Wessel.
