Pacific Northwest Ballet is one of the largest and most highly regarded ballet companies in the United States, based in Seattle, Washington, and founded in 1972. The organization maintains a company of about fifty dancers and performs more than 100 productions each year, presenting both full-length and mixed-repertoire ballets at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall and on tour. Its touring has taken it to Europe, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Canada, and across the United States, with notable appearances at Jacob's Pillow and in New York City and Washington, DC. Since 2005, the artistic director has been Peter Boal, succeeding Kent Stowell and Francia Russell, who led the company starting in 1977. The company engages with communities through education programs and partnerships, including a longstanding collaboration with Seattle Public Schools and the Bellevue School District as part of its Discover Dance initiative, and in 2026 announced a partnership with MoBBallet to offer opportunities for Summer Course students.
