The Padre Pio Foundation of America was founded in 1977 with a mission to promote devotion to Padre Pio and continue his legacy of helping those in need—both spiritually and physically. The Foundation also supports religious vocations and provides aid to the places that were closest to Padre Pio's heart, including his hometown of Pietrelcina, the friary in San Giovanni Rotondo where he lived for 50 years, and the hospital he founded, La Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza.
