Palo Alto Preparatory School is a private, non-sectarian, college preparatory high school offering small classes, individualized instruction, and a robust program of learning that takes place outside the classroom via field trips, events, and international travel. At Palo Alto Prep, we treat our students as individuals, focusing on the whole person. This means we recognize the importance of a student's social and emotional development, in addition to academic development. Our teachers aren't just experienced and educated in their fields, they are also adept at forming relationships with students based on trust, mutual respect, and a genuine liking of each other. PAP students might spend their Fridays at school learning to fly planes, hiking in nature, horseback riding, learning to scuba dive, cooking, gardening, or working on art projects. They learn math and physics concepts by playing billiards or doing a skydiving simulation. They learn about art history and techniques by visiting museums. They build social skills as part of a tight-knit community that celebrates, laughs, and takes risks to learn new things together. We often have parents tell us that their child never really fit in anywhere and had trouble making friends until they came to PAP.
