"Paperpile" is an industrial-strength reference management solution for the Google Apps platform. References and PDFs can be collected with a Chrome extension, are automatically synced to Google Drive and can be cited in Google Docs. 

Paperpile is used by an enthusiastic community of thousands of researchers world-wide as a refreshing alternative to existing desktop based reference management products.
