Paralyzed Veterans of America is a national non-profit organization that supports veterans with severe mobility impairments through services, advocacy, and medical research. Founded in 1946 by World War II veterans who sustained spinal cord injuries, the group aims to help injured service members regain independence and meaningful participation in society. Its structure includes national officers and 34 chapters spanning all states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico, collectively representing thousands of veterans. The organization seeks to create conditions in which veterans, people with disabilities, and their families have access to what they need to live full, productive lives. Beyond direct support, PVA engages in advocacy, events, and programs that advance accessibility and veterans' rights. In January 2026, it launched a free Online Fitness and Wellness Program for veterans with mobility challenges.
