Park Avenue Armory is a New York City–based performing arts venue that relies on an unconventional spatial mix—a palace-like collection of rooms surrounding a vast, column-free drill hall—to present works that fall outside traditional proscenium stages, concert halls, or white-wall galleries. The 55,000-square-foot Drill Hall and accompanying spaces give artists room to realize large-scale, ambitious projects while offering audiences access to adventurous, place-based experiences that are not available elsewhere in New York. It runs a varied program that includes large-scale productions, smaller performances, talks, and symposia, along with artist residencies and commissioning activities. Its Arts Education initiative provides free student performances aligned with Armory productions, curriculum enrichment for partner schools, and a paid Youth Corps internship that offers mentorship and exposure to working artists. The building is undergoing a major revitalization of its historic structure, designed by Herzog & de Meuron. In January 2026, the organization announced the appointment of a new artistic director.
