Based in New Port Richey, the county covers 742 square miles and provides a broad range of services, including parks and recreational facilities that support outdoor access for the public. It was established in 1887 when Pasco County split from Hernando County and was named after Samuel Pasco, who served in the state legislature and the U.S. Senate. The government supports community development and public safety, and it pursues civic initiatives and partnerships such as Keep Pasco Beautiful and Earth Day to engage the community.
