PATEL Winery believes that wine is made in the vineyard – in our words, it takes great grapes to create great wine. Our Mission Statement is simpe; "produce the finest Bordeaux style red wine from Napa Valley." We are not trying to replicate any other Bordeaux style red wine. My desire is to create unique wines with a strong personality that reflect the uniquenes of each vineyard and sub–appellation of Napa Valley. At Patel we believe Napa Valley has the potential to produce world–class Bordeaux style red wine. Utilizing neo classic winemaking techniques; we are not style driven or following the latest fad of winemaking. Our goal is to capture the uniqueness of the growing site giving each wine its own distinct personality; we encourage each wines individual expression. This approach to winemaking is pure and unadulterated; therefore the wines will typically be very dark in color, complex and aromatic; most of the characteristics that determine a wine’s "style". We age our wine in 100% new French oak barrels before they spend a full year in bottle prior to release. Each of our wines is the purest expression of their respective vineyard and appellation and it is for this is this reason, we source vineyards of great expression. This is the single most important thing that we can do to make our wine unique. Low yields are common, and each vine is individually cared for by our vineyard manager. Because of this intense demand for great fruit in the Napa Valley, we are only able to produce a limited amount of wine each year.
