PawPaw Farms was established by Bryan and Kathy Landen in 2001 on a parcel of farmland located in Bargersville, Indiana. Initially, mass plantings of corn and alfalfa were harvested for bulk sale but soon the Landens decided to shift operations to vegetable production for household use. In 2006 the Landens moved to Florence Italy and took an opportunity to study traditional European gardening techniques that had developed over hundreds of years. These techniques involve high density planting, soil and water conservation, and many sustainability methods that have become popular in the US in recent years. In 2011 the Landens moved back to Bargersville and established a new base of operations for PawPaw Farms. With the new location also came a new purpose, helping those in need.Currently the land is being re-purposed to support vegetable gardening. Pawpaw Farms donates a portion of the harvest to local food shelters and soup kitchens via our partner Growing Assistance.
