PawPaw Farms is a small farming operation based in Bargersville, Indiana, founded in 2001 by Bryan and Kathy Landen. The business began with bulk harvests of corn and alfalfa but shifted to vegetable production for household use, and later re-established itself in Bargersville after a period in Florence, Italy, where the owners studied traditional European gardening practices focused on high density planting and soil and water conservation. Upon returning to Indiana in 2011, the Landens redirected the farm’s purpose toward supporting vegetable gardening and charitable efforts, donating portions of harvests to local food shelters and soup kitchens through a partner organization. Today, the land is repurposed to sustain vegetable gardening activities, with the operation operating in a small-scale farming context and maintaining an emphasis on community assistance through donated produce.
