Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, focused on medical research related to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and dementia. Its mission is to improve human health throughout the lifespan. The center comprises fourteen research laboratories and seventeen core service laboratories and supports a substantial team of scientists and physicians. Its researchers conduct basic, clinical, and population health studies aimed at addressing the global obesity epidemic by 2040. The center hosts three NIH Centers of Excellence: the Center for Research on Botanicals and Metabolic Syndrome (BRC), the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE), and the Nutrition and Obesity Research Center (NORC). In April 2026, it announced a partnership with the LSU AgCenter to expand a Louisiana-based family health study.
