Perkins School of Theology operates as an academic community focused on theological study and teaching within the Methodist tradition, with an aim to prepare individuals for faithful leadership and Christian ministry in today’s church and society. It seeks to deepen understanding of the Christian faith and to advance work in church life, higher education, and public life through scholarship, service, and advocacy. Based in Dallas, it is one of The United Methodist Church’s 13 seminaries and is among the small group of university-related Methodist theological schools, with a hybrid extension program in the Houston/Galveston area. Its primary audience includes students pursuing theological study as well as clergy and lay leaders seeking deeper knowledge for ministry. Within the higher education landscape, the school maintains its Dallas presence while offering a hybrid extension in the Houston area to broaden access. The overall focus is to equip leaders for ministry and to foster scholarly engagement across church, academy, and broader society.
