Richard Peterson has been in the HVAC field for 22 years. He learned his trade in the US Army and taught soldiers for three years.
 
He left active duty, joined the Army National Guard and began working for local heating and cooling companies until 2001 when he began teaching HVAC at the Northland Career Center.
 
After serving a one-year tour of duty for Homeland Security in 2003, he worked side jobs that he had received by word of mouth until his next contract with the Northland Career Center took effect in September 2004.
