When founder Mary Philpotts McGrath began her design business in the 1960s, her goal was to give Hawaii’s newly constructed buildings and residences a “sense of place.” This meant reinterpreting the culture and color of the islands in a changing environment. Today, principals Marion Philpotts-Miller, Lowell Tom, and Holly Boling Ruiz along with the other Philpotts designers, continue to move the company forward.
