The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering anyone affected by burn injuries through peer support, education, and advocacy. Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and founded in 1977, the organization collaborates with survivors, families, health care professionals, burn centers, and the fire industry to support recovery, improve burn care, and prevent burn injuries. Its programs include Phoenix SOAR, Phoenix World Burn Congress, an online community, Advocates, Education Grants, and Burn Support Magazine, all aimed at supporting physical, emotional, and social healing for burn survivors. It helped create the LIBRE Profile, a self-advocacy and data tool that captures long-term effects of burn injuries and has produced quantitative evidence that peer support improves outcomes. In July 2024, it partnered with Cumberland University to launch a series of virtual Lunch and Learn webinars for alumni, students, and friends.
