O Grupo Carphone Warehouse iniciou a sua actividade em Portugal através da aquisição da empresa Polirent em Novembro de 1999, com uma cadeia de 6 lojas exclusivas TMN localizadas nos maiores centros comerciais de Lisboa. 

A designação da empresa foi alterada para The Phone House em Setembro de 2000. 

Em Março de 2000 a Polirent, já dentro do Grupo The Carphone Warehouse, negoceia e adquire à Computerworld o trespasse de 12 lojas situadas na sua grande maioria em centros comerciais geograficamente distribuídos pelo país. Todas estas lojas foram convertidas para a marca The Phone House, comercializando produtos e serviços de todos os operadores móveis nacionais. 

Em Maio de 2000 o Grupo adquiriu a empresa Eurotransmite, agente Telecel com 6 lojas exclusivas em centros comerciais, na sua maioria localizados no Norte de Portugal. 

Mais tarde, em Julho do mesmo ano, a Polirent adquire o Grupo PVP (PVP SGPS, PVP Lda e Tabacaria Phoenix) com uma cadeia de 8 lojas exclusivas TMN situadas nas principais artérias comerciais de rua de Lisboa.

Em 2005, e continuando o seu plano de expansão, a TPH inaugurou a sua primeira loja de Franchising em Fafe. Actualmente, contando já com 8 lojas em Franchising.
 
Em Abril de 2007 a história da empresa volta a alterar, dado que a TPH adquire a empresa OSFONE com 74 lojas (entre lojas Mutimarca e de Operador).
