PHYCO2 designs algae photo-bioreactors (APB) and produces algae cost effectively and in bulk, to satisfy market demand for algae in the bio-stimulant, human consumption for cosmetics/pharmaceuticals/nutrition, and animal nutrition industries. The APB design is novel in that it absorbs the CO2 from industrial exhaust - e.g. power plants and ethanol production, and operates continuously through the use of LED's. The company filed for patents in the US and Canada which are now perfected (US Patent # 8,476,067 B2, Canada Patent #2,712,862), and is patent pending with its new scalable design. The patents include claims not only on the design concepts and product, but also the method of production. The company is testing units with the exhaust from natural gas fired boilers at Michigan State University to quantify the system performance. Current testing began in January 2018, commercialization is expected in 2020.
