Pier Import is a mid-sized retail company based in Sens, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region of France. The business has roots in the United States, where a charitable organization on the San Francisco waterfront sold artisan crafts imported from India. The first Pier Import boutique in France opened in 1972, offering objects and furniture inspired by travel and establishing a niche in exotic design, notably with rattan pieces. Today, Pier Import combines decorative items with a broad range of sustainable furniture, including pieces made from recycled wood, FSC-certified recycled wood, and customizable rubberwood furniture. Its customer base includes individuals seeking distinctive, travel-inspired interiors alongside environmentally responsible furniture choices, situating the company within the retail sector as a curator of globally influenced design in its region.
