Pioneer Theatre Company is a professional regional theatre based in Salt Lake City, Utah, operating as the resident company at the University of Utah. It produces a seven-show season from September through May, presenting a mix of classics, large-scale musicals, and contemporary dramas and comedies. The company has earned a reputation for Broadway-quality productions and has mounted numerous Utah premieres and regional premieres. Historically, PTC was the first regional theatre in the United States to obtain the rights to produce Les Misérables, delivering a landmark run of performances. In fall 2022, it presented the Broadway-bound musical Shucked, which opened in spring 2023 and earned nine Tony nominations, marking Utah as an out-of-town tryout site for a Broadway musical. In 2026, the theatre announced its Annual Theatre Lives Here Gala, honoring the Eccles Family for their leadership and contributions to the university and broader Utah communities.
