The Pioneer Valley Symphony (PVS) is a regional orchestra and choral organization based in Greenfield, Massachusetts, with a history dating back to 1939. It operates three ensembles—the PVS Orchestra, the PVS Chorus and Chamber Choir, and the PVS Youth Orchestra—serving audiences across Greenfield, Northampton, and Amherst, and drawing participants and listeners from the wider Pioneer Valley and southern Vermont. The organization provides professional-level musical direction to a large pool of volunteer instrumentalists and vocalists, while also offering free educational concerts and materials that introduce hundreds of children to choral and orchestral music each year. PVS has earned national recognition for contemporary programming, including multiple ASCAP awards, and presents a season of concerts that includes collaborations among its ensembles and independent subscription and community performances. The organization functions with a community-oriented mission and sustains activities through its ensemble-based structure and educational outreach.
