Planted Detroit operates a vertical farming facility in the Islandview neighborhood on Detroit's lower east side. It grows microgreens, herbs, baby greens, and ready-to-eat salads for the surrounding community, using vertical farming methods that enable a range of specialty crops with distinct flavors. It is positioned within the food and beverage services sector and focuses on delivering fresh greens and salads locally. Current production capacity includes seeding about 25,000 baby greens per week, with microgreens and herbs, and near-term plans to harvest around 100 pounds of greens and produce up to 500 salads per day. In July 2025, Balance Farms announced a partnership with Planted Detroit that expands Balance Farms' presence into Detroit.
