About Us - For over thirty years, Playhouse Merced has been a host of theater in Merced hosting shows and education. Playhouse Merced recognizes and contributes to the rich cultural tapestry that is the heart of California’s Central Valley and our mission is to continue to Enrich, Engage, Educate and Entertain our community through our arts education for all ages and live stage theatre performances. We understand that to accomplish our mission, we must continue to embrace and reflect the diversity of our community while promoting inclusion through our actions and community involvement. 

Conservatory - We are very blessed to be offering conservatory classes to our wonderful community for over 30 years! Through our conservatory, we teach students a range of skills used in the theater such as dance, acting, singing, music, art, sound design and more! Our main focus is teaching through the rehearsal process of a junior or teen show, but we also do occasional master classes offerings on specific subjects.

Producing theatre with authentic representations of all groups, inclusive of culture, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, and different abilities. Providing educational opportunities connected to our diverse programming to help our audiences better engage with our work. Creating a safe, inclusive, and anti-racist environment for all, and especially for  BIPOC*,  LGBTQIA+** , and women staff members, artists, audience, and community members. We know that these efforts toward ensuring an equitable, diverse, and inclusive community theatre are ongoing. This statement of ideals will continue to grow and evolve, and we look forward to ongoing conversations with the Playhouse Merced community.
