Based in downtown Plymouth, Michigan, the Plymouth District Library serves the City of Plymouth and the Charter Township of Plymouth, a community of about 36,650 residents. It functions as a public library, offering lending materials, programming, meeting and study spaces, and access to technology to support learning and community connection. The library participates in a reciprocal borrowing network with 75 Detroit-area libraries, a system facilitated by The Library Network, expanding access for patrons beyond its municipality. 

With a history of close to a century, the library relies on community support, including a dedicated millage, a Friends organization, and hundreds of volunteers, and it is an equal opportunity employer. Recent initiatives include Project Pen Pal, launched in April 2026 to connect children with homebound patrons, and a collaboration with Canton Public Library to support teens through the P-CCS Clothing Bank.
