PERF is an independent research organization focused on policing and public safety. Founded in 1976, it is based in Washington, DC, and operates within the law enforcement sector. The organization identifies and disseminates best practices on core policing challenges, including reducing police use of force, strengthening community- and problem-oriented policing, and evaluating crime reduction strategies, as well as exploring how technologies can support delivering police services.
