Police Scotland is the national law enforcement service for Scotland, formed on 1 April 2013 to oversee policing across the country. It covers the entire jurisdiction, spanning 28,168 square miles, and is the second-largest police force in the United Kingdom after the Metropolitan Police. The service is led by a Chief Constable and supported by a command team that includes Deputy Chief Constables, Assistant Chief Constables, and Directors, with police officers, police staff, and special constables working together. Its purpose is to improve the safety and wellbeing of people, places, and communities in Scotland, with the aim of keeping the public safe as a central objective. The organization is based in Kincardine, Scotland, and in 2026 it was recognized as Employer of the Year at the Scottish Veterans Awards.
